The Glossy Ibis, when viewed in poor light, appears anything but glossy. It’s dark-brown plumage may appear blackish when seen from a distance, and the overall impression is one of a brad bird. However, in some lights, the plumage of the Glossy Ibis takes on an iridescent green-and-purple gloss (hence its name) the neck is reddish-brown and the body is a bronze-brown with a metallic iridescent sheen on the wings. 

In Jordan it is located in Azraq wet land reservation and in Aqaba bird Observatory. It feeds on frogs, snails, aquatic insects and spiders in damp places.

يمتاز هذا الطائر بألوانه الجميلة والتي تزداد جمالا" مع ضوء الشمس، يعيش في مجموعات ولا يخلو الوضع من معارك تعطي المصور الفرصة للقطات جميلة. يتواجد في الأردن في المناطق المائية كمحمية الأزرق المائية ومرصد طيور العقبه. تراه يعبث بمنقاره الطويل بالطين باحثا عن غذاءه من الضفادع والحشرات والعناكب والحلزون.‏
