The Stonechat is a small bird about 12 cm in length. The male has a dark black head with a white collar around his neck. It took the name of his voice, which resembles the sound of hitting two stones together.

It is widespread in Jordan and in most places but few in the desert. It likes to sit on short plants or on a rock to catch insects from the ground easily.
