A thrush breeds across much of Eurasia It has brown upper-parts and black-spotted cream or buff underparts. The song thrush breeds in forests, gardens and parks, and is partially migratory with many birds wintering in southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. In Jordan, it habitat forests mainly in the north, parks and gardens.
It is 20 to 23.5 centimeters in length. The sexes are similar, with plain brown backs and neatly black-spotted cream or yellow-buff underparts, becoming paler on the belly. The underwing is warm yellow, the bill is yellowish and the legs and feet are pink.
The song thrush is omnivorous, eating a wide range of invertebrates, especially earthworms and snails, as well as soft fruit and berries.
من الطيور المغردة التي تعيش في مكان بالقرب من أوروبا وآسيا من عائلات فصيلة الشحرور. تهاجر الى المناطق الأكثر اعتدالا في مواسم التزاوج. تفضل الغابات الكثيفة التي هي بمثابة غطاء نموذجي لهم وكذلك الحدائق والمتنزهات ولا تفضل المناطق المفتوحة. في الأردن تتواجد في الحدائق والمنتزهات والمناطق التي بها أشجار خاصة بالشمال.
طول طائر السماني من 20 سم -23.5 سم ويتشابه الذكور والاناث في الريش. ظهورها مستقيمة ولونها بني أما الريش السفلي فهو على شكل (7) ولونه أصفر أو كريمي ومرقط بالأسود ولون ريش البطن باهت والذيل قصيرأما لون جناحها من الاسفل أصفر اللون ومنقارها ملفوف ولون الأقدام زهري.
يتغذى طائر السماني على اللحوم والأعشاب ويأكل اللافقاريات وعلى راسها الديدان والقواقع والفاكهة الخفيفة.
