
The Indian silver bill is a small passerine bird found in the Indian subcontinent and adjoining regions that formerly considered including the closely related.
This estrildid Finch is a common resident breeding bird in the drier regions of the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. It spread into many other parts of the world and has become established in some areas like Jordan River Valley.
They forage in small flocks in grassland and scrub habitats. The adult Indian silver bill is 11–11.5 cm long and has a conical silver-grey bill, buff-brown upperparts, white underparts, puffy flanks and dark wings. The tail is black and the wings are dark contrasting with a white rump. The sexes are similar; these birds are gregarious and found in flocks of as many as 60 birds. They feed on the ground or on low shrubs and grass stalks. They visit drink water, with a rapid sip, and swallow action. They feed on a wide range of grass seeds and of crop species.
ينتشر في الهند وباكستان وافغانستان وسيلان والجزء الغربي من بنغلادش. يتواجد في بيئات المزارع والمدن والحدائق العامة ومناطق أشجار السمر والطلح الكثيفة. يعشش في فجوات المباني أو في داخل الأغصان العلوية من الأشجار الشوكية. في الأردن يتواجد في منطقة الغور.
بني صغير مبيض اللون ويشبه الحسون. له منقار رمادي فضي مخروطي الشكل، العيون بارزة والذيل أسود مدبب، أعلى الذيل ضارب للبياض. حواشي ريش الجناح لدى اليافع شاحبة. أليف الى حد ما، ويتواجد بشكل متكرر في مجموعات صغيرة، يجلس متقارباً عندما يجثم، وغالباً يحرك وينقر الذيل. الطيران خفيف مع تموجات قصيرة.
عرف هذا الطائر بالمونيا ذي الحنجرة البيضاء او الفينش ذي الدبر الابيض او الفينش النطاط نسبة الى حركة الغزل الذي يعملها الذكر اثناء التغريد بالحركة النابضة في مكانه ويعمل عدد كبير من القفزات وهو واقف بمكانه للإغراء الانثى وتلاحظ الانثى وهي تضرب بمنقارها بالغصن الذي تقف عليه وهذا يدل على قبولها طقوس الزواج.
